Billing Clerk (Temp-to-Hire)

Location: On-Site (5 Days/Week)

Schedule: 7.5-Hour Workday

Pay Rate: $23.00 - $24.00/hour

A well-established law firm is seeking a detail-oriented Billing Clerk in Pittsburgh to join its accounting and billing team on a temporary-to-hire basis. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in legal billing and accounting processes, with the potential to transition into a permanent position based on performance and business needs.

This position is ideal for someone with strong data entry experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced professional environment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Scan and process incoming checks.
• Perform data entry for accounts payable transactions.
• Track and research cost entries.
• Conduct conflict checks and open new client matters.
• Maintain and update client and matter information within the firm's time and billing system.
• Assist with the preparation and distribution of monthly pre-bills.

Additional Responsibilities (Based on Performance and Business Need)

• Review and edit pre-bills based on attorney feedback.
• Assist with finalizing, printing, and distributing invoices via mail and email.
• Research and respond to billing and payment inquiries.
• Apply client payments received by check, ACH, wire transfer, and credit card.
• Prepare daily cash collection reports for attorneys and firm management.
• Follow up on outstanding accounts receivable balances.
• Create and update spreadsheet reports and Word documents.

Qualifications

• Strong data entry experience required.
• Ability to take direction, prioritize tasks, and follow through on assignments.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively under deadlines and manage a high volume of work.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
• Experience with legal billing software is a plus but not required.
• Professional, positive, and team-oriented attitude.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
